ARRIRAW provides uncompromised image quality and the most flexibility in postproduction. This uncompressed 12 bit raw Bayer sensor data ouput from the ARRIFLEX D-21 or ALEXA could be described as a digital negative that needs to be processed. Appropriate equipment and tools are needed to record and work with ARRIRAW.

ARRIRAW output can be recorded using ARRIRAW T-Link certified recorders. In postproduction, ARRIRAW files need to be either processed and transformed into a file format of choice or natively supported by the various applications used. The latter preserves the raw file's inherent flexibility most conveniently. With the ARRIRAW Converter - ARC, ARRI offers a free software tool to view, process and convert ARRIRAW data in production quality.
