Sony / Arri where are the 128gb cards? Other systems are pumping out 512gb cards, we are still sat here with 64gb max?
I've got bigger USB key drives.

When are we looking at bigger faster drives so we can eventually record RAW in camera, this shouldn't be to far away should it?. It can't be such a big leap.

I'm very happy with my Alexa, but offloading 64gb cards via USB 2, seriously, 10 year old technology?

We need to get up to speed on this front, bigger and faster please.

Thanks.

Bob.

128 would be nice... I'm running Sonnet Thunderbolt reader to USB 3 drives and offloading 64G cards in less than 7 minutes.  USB2 is too slow.

USB 2.0 is a real party killer!

We use the Sonnet with Thunderbolt for 64GB SxS Cards, crazy fast.
We also record to 512GB Solid State Drives using the Gemini444 for ARRIRAW.
The Gemini444 is small and not expensive for capturing ARRIRAW.

Other cameras that record in 4 or 5K are often transcoded down to HD or 2K
adding extra workflow, etc.

Another cool thing is that Apple is starting to come out with USB 3.0 in the iMac and MacBook.

Looks like the new Sony SXS Pro+ is the answer, 128gb and faster read times. Are we getting somewhere near to RAW being recorded to on-board media???...

Just saw the 128GB SxS Pro+ cards from Sony and though the very same thing.  Arriraw on the SxS module !.   There´s also two new line of cards from Sony.  AXSM and the SRMemory cards (up to 1TB).   I believe all with much faster writing/recording speeds than our current SxS.

I believe though Sony will be keeping the SRmemory as their Proprietary media format for F65 / F55 / F5. And the AXSM I believe would require a complete re-work of the Alexa. SxS Pro+ could be the answer with a new side module and potentially some internal hardware switch's to allow the bandwidth needed. But who knows... we will just have to wait and see.....

The simplest (theoretical)  solution would be the change of the recording module into the onboard gemini444 sans LCD.

Official parameters for SxS+ are 1.6Gbit/sec read and 1.5 Gbit/sec write, however realistic more like 1.3 Gbit/sec. That could be too little even for basic arriraw. And 128GB is 10 minutes or so of arriraw. The price will be Sony.  Meanwhile 528GB SSD is down to 300US.

Will the current Alexa's SxS interface be able to write to the new SxS+ cards?

We'll be able to use the new 128GB SxS cards in the ALEXA but they're still not fast enough to capture uncompressed ARRIRAW. It seems the Gemini 4:4:4 is still the only cost-effective ARRIRAW solution for the foreseeable future.

Adrian, you are right on; the price is right!
With the Gemini444 having the ability to directly power it from the Alexa is fantastic.
And it is small enough to gaffer tape right to the side of the Alexa.

We'll be able to use the new 128GB SxS cards in the ALEXA...

You mean with the current SxS module or a new one ?.

I would like to purchase some additional cards for our camera and am looking at the 128gb Pro +
Has Arri tested these cards in the Alexa yet? Have they certified them as truly reliable?

The Sony SxS Pro Plus cards do not work in ALEXA.
