The "Play" button is on both sides of the Alexa.
But, on the Alexa's right side with the programable buttons
there is no "Back" function. This is a problem. Because once you hit
the "Play" button to have to hit the "Back" button to resume the camera's ability
to record. It is not alway easy to have to get to the Alexa's left side to hit the back button.
This "Back" function must be a programable option for the programable buttons.
Why did ARRI put the "Play" button on the right side when you have to go to the left side anyways to resume
recording? Yes, control can be accessed thru the EVF, but the EVF in not alway easy to reach when the camera
is in many different positions on a set, etc.
When it comes to ARRI, most of the time, the designs are flawless & that is said with sincere appreciation!
But, not in this case for the needed "Back" button programable function.
Can it be updated as soon as possible for the upcoming Alexa SUP? thanks for listening, rob

If you hold down the 'play' button for three seconds it will exit the play mode and go back live.

When the Alexa is in play mode it won't allow recording when the record button is pressed.
First, play back mode must be exited.

Thanks for the tip about holding the play button for 3 seconds. It would be nice if there was a quick guide for all the Alexa short cut keys.

That's the only one and we thought it's sufficient to put it in the manual (p98). But thanks for pointing this out. We'll add it to the pocket guides, too.

Thanks! It seems like there are a few Easter eggs out there with the Alexa.
Are there any other short cuts or neat tricks with using the Alexa?

Ok, here's one more:
Shortcut for MENU>SYSTEM>DISPLAY>Display Brightness 1-8
The menu button used to control the menu display brightness when you rotated it. To prevent accidental operation, we changed it so now you have to keep the back button pressed while rotating the button.

That's a good one! I hope that ARRI expands on options for assigning button functions also.
I think the best extra feature on the Alexa at this point is the ARRI RAW "grab" option for stills on shoots!
